Call for Abstracts

Congress Format
The JES 2026 Annual Meeting is scheduled to be held as an in-person event.
All presentations will be conducted in person, and no live streaming is planned.
However, on-demand streaming will be available for selected sessions.
Abstract Submission Guidelines
  • Abstracts will be accepted through online registration using the UMIN system.
  • The name of the presenting author and the abstract title must be entered in both Japanese and English if submitted in Japanese.
  • Although the presentation can be in Japanese, the abstract text can be written in either Japanese or English (English abstracts are recommended).
  • General abstracts (Oral presentations: English) are also being widely solicited. We welcome submissions for presentations in English. Participants studying in Japan will have their registration fees waived.
  • In general, the first author is the presenter.
  • For sessions with international speakers, please register an English abstract.
  • The registration number and password issued at the time of abstract submission are required for confirmation of receipt and for making corrections, so please be sure to keep a record of them.
  • Please read the important notes carefully, and then proceed to the abstract submission page by clicking the button at the bottom of this page.

Presentation Format
General presentation, Symposiums, Workshops
For general presentation, symposiums, and workshops, please select your preferred presentation format (oral presentation, poster, symposium/workshop) during the registration process.
However, please note that we may not be able to accommodate all preferences.
The acceptance and presentation format decisions will be made by the program committee. After abstract review, notifications regarding acceptance, presentation format, abstract number, etc., will be sent via email (expected to be in mid July 2026).
Invited Topics
Please select the requested session.
If you require any special accommodation on the day of the presentation (e.g., wheelchair access), please indicate this on the registration page and inform the secretariat.
Ethical Standards (Important)
It is a requirement for submission that the research does not involve any ethical issues. The presenter will bear ethical responsibility when presenting. When registering the abstract, please comply with the "Ethical Considerations for Abstract Submission at the Annual Meeting" established by the Japan Epilepsy Society and answer the questions on the abstract registration page accordingly.

Awards
1. Best Poster Award
Overview
Outstanding abstracts from the general poster presentations will be selected for each category (Psychiatry, Neurology, Pediatrics, Neurosurgery, Basic Research, and Co-medical).
Eligibility
The first author must be under 40 years old as of April 1, 2026.
Application
Self-declaration and application are required at the time of abstract submission.
2. English Presentation Award
Overview
Outstanding presentations delivered in English will be awarded.
Eligibility
There is no age restriction, and no prior application is required.*After the abstract submission has closed, we will contact those who selected “1.
Oral Presentation (Japanese/English)” to confirm their interest in being considered for the award.
3. YES-Japan Excellent Presentation Award (YES-Japan Award)
Overview
Outstanding abstracts from general poster presentations will be recognized.
Eligibility
The first author must be under 40 years old and belong to one of the following categories:
- Medical students
- Junior residents
- Senior residents/Clinical fellows
- Medical staff
4. YES-Japan English Session Excellent Presentation Award
(YES-Japan English Session Award)
Overview
Outstanding abstracts from both oral and poster presentations will be recognized.
Eligibility
The first author must be under 40 years old and belong to one of the following categories:
- Medical students
- Junior residents
- Senior residents/Clinical fellows
- Medical staff
Additional Information
The abstract for the YES-Japan English session can be the same as the general abstract. However, an English abstract must be submitted in Word format to the conference office at jes59@shinsen-mc.co.jp.
5. Awards (1, 2, 3 Common)
Award Ceremony
The awards are scheduled to be presented at the closing ceremony of the Annual Meeting.
Eligibility and Conditions
The first author of the general abstract is considered the presenter. Furthermore, the first author must be a regular or temporary member of the Japan Epilepsy Society.
Non-members must contact the society office and complete the membership process (either regular or temporary) at the time of abstract submission.
If a temporary member is the first author, at least one of the co-authors must be a regular member.

Duplicate Presentations
Abstracts with the same content as those presented at past Annual Meetings of Japan Epilepsy Society.
If the content overlaps with that submitted to another past meeting, please send the abstracts submitted to the other meeting to the 59th JES Annual Meeting Secretariat(e-mail:jes59@shinsen-mc.co.jp).
If the presentation content has received any awards from other meeting or publication in the past, please indicate this award history when submitting your application.
Please note that when submitting abstract records for various specialist certification applications, duplicate presentations will be considered as a single presentation.
Therefore, presenters are responsible for avoiding duplicate submissions when applying for these certifications.
